New VW Golf R over 30 weeks delivery time!
Discussion
I've ordered a new lease Mk 8 Golf R direct through a local VW dealer. That order was confirmed 11th January for mid June delivery - my stipulated date as my current lease car goes back the same week in June.
18th January received an email from the VW dealer to say
"VW have brought forward the Golf R slots to week 8 now – w/c 15th February. As per my confirmation email, build and transit takes around 4-5 weeks. At the moment their ETA is end of March, but again, this can still change as still unconfirmed."
The dealer then offered me the car for April delivery if I wanted the car early, or they can (and now will) hold my car to June for me.
Either I was lucky to get an early slot or something wrong if people are being told 30 weeks for delivery.

I don't know the spec but a friend has been offered this week a March delivery from local VW dealer.
Dealers ordered these cars in November, the delay issues have started in the new year. Even my friend Transit connect delivery april has been pushed back untill july which causes him an issue as his lease is up when originally due.
Just been on the BYO on the VW site - are heated seats now optional rather than standard..? I'd also have to have the wheel upgrade as the standard ones are...not my thing. Which also means DCC as I wouldn't want the standard suspension on 19s... All of a sudden it's easy to have added 10% of the list price in options!

Yes - heated front seats are a £270 option. Added about £10 per month to my two year lease price.Brian_the_Snail said:

No heated seats as standard seems pretty poor on a £40k car, especially when they were standard on the Mk7.5.
I agree and personally I wouldn't pay the extra for heated seats. However, in order to pass Chancellor's audit (aka Wife) I had to order a 'four wheel drive Golf with heated seats'. Just happens the Golf R is the only one with even part time four wheel drive Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
