My Bora is due for its 80000 mile service soon and I have be quoted £240 by my dealer because its a 'major' service. This seems expensive but is it right?? Can I get it cheaper at another dealer??

Also when I got the car a year ago it was ready for its 60000 mile service. I asked them to service the car and do the cam belt before I bought it. They said they have done this and it is listed in my service book as 'toothed belt change'. Is this correct too??

Many thanks!

Not sure if it will help, but my TDI130 has gone in for its 60,000 mile service this morning. This service is a Cam Belt change, The 50,000 service was just a lubrication service.
Will post price and what was done later

Thanks. I asked the dealership who I bought the car off to do the cam belt service before I bought it. Can't say the cost though!

Let me know how you get on. My 70000 service cost me £140, and that was minor!!!

Ok, just had the Bill...

... Wait for it ... £ 643 !!!

That is for 60,000 miles, New fluids ( Brake, Coolant, Oil ), Air Con Recharge and a new Water Pump ( the old one was leaking when the took the cambelt off ).

It also included a nice steam clean and polish to get rid of the Le Mans Dust, grime and flies.

I just had service at local dealer and it cost 225 dollars!! New wipers, all fluids done, new wing mirrors, timing belt checked, and interior done all nice and cherry smelling! Bargain!

Just took the car back to the dealers, ater a little incident with something under the bonnet... Sounded like a POP followed by lots of smoke out the back. It turns out the connecting pupe between the turbo and the intercooler had blew. common when disturbed after it has been untouched for a while ( in my case, after 20,000 miles ). No power, no economy.

Garage have one on order. With any luck I wont be charged for it.

When they took th ebelt off, they noticed corrosion around the waterpump.
Ive not noticed any water useage over the last 30,000 miles, but I cannot afford to have it fail on me as i need reliable transport.

Yes, it is expensive, but worth it in my oppinion.

Was it then the housing or the impellar that was corroded?

And why was that? Is your vehicle in Warrenty??

Does the term Fit for Use ring a bell? Do they not use anti corrosives in the cooling system??

In the end you have your own ideas of service, and I respect that, but I have mine.
