A friend of mine (Female) has her heart set on an Audi TT. She wants to spend around £15k, what should we be looking out for.....problems? spec? are we in for a price affecting new model at any time soon?

Lots of information on www.tt-forum.co.uk

The TT is generally a good car. The notorious coil pack problems on earlier cars should have been sorted out as I think there was a recall. The electric windows can be tempermental. Dash pod problems seem to not be that uncommon. If there are strange gauge indications it can signal that the pod is on it's way out and that's a £700 job I believe. Lots of people moan about Audi customer service aswell...

Having said that, I've got one and no problems so far...touch wood...and I love the car.

Good luck.

Second all the above things, only issues are electrics. Have had mine 3 years and absolutely no problems so far apart from 1 coil pack - fixed inside 30 mins from call by Audi mobile technician.

For the £15k mark you're looking at a 4 year old 225 coupe or a younger 180. Roadsters would add around £2k or another year older.

New model is still a year or two off and will probably not affect older cars. People aren't going to stop buying £15k cars cos a newer £30k model has come out.

Nice car, used to have one. Its worth paying for the 225 version. As mentioned the dash pod is a frequent failure (mine went - fixed under warranty) and will cost £600+.

I bought the TT when it was 10 months old. I later found out the original owner had part ex'd it as he was fed up with the coils failing - 5 times! In the time I had it none went.

Try and get one with BOSE stereo and the RS4 or comp alloys too.

I saw a 225 Coupe at a garage yesterday for £14995.
