Copied this from the CGTI forum.

I did the last 16vfrenzy one in my 16v, set some good times & had a right good laugh & hoon around the circuit thrown in afterwards :)

So well worth doing if a VR6 lump powers ya dub.

So come on Emma & Jon, drag ya 'rrados up & see if you can beat my 16v times...... :)

R32 should be eligable too, its a VR6 after all, if they are stuck for cars might have to take my mates VR6 Sharan up there for a giggle :D

Cut & paste below-

[We're still looking for a few normally-aspirated VR6-engined cars to join
our group track test at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground at the end of June.

If you have such a car, or you know of one, then please get in touch by
emailing: thegolfmag@ipcmedia.com

The event will start at 10am and finish no later than 4pm.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Well, it is tempting to give the old girl one last "hurrah" before I sell her (I mean the Corrado, not Emma ) but I would be concerned about breaking her. Especially since I've just shelled out £1k on repairs / servicing / etc.

If you do sell the Emma, what sorta dosh you after?

Come on Jon, you been on about keeping it/selling that old 'rrado for years! so you just know it wont be a last hurrah!

Just go easy on the launches, only one car out of our bunch had to go home on a trailer, tho 2 gearboxes & 1 clutch did go pop v soon after!

Yes, you're right there. Fair cop, 'guv.
However, this time I really am. No, really. Just as soon as I get the dents & dings sorted out and give it a good clean. Then it'll be in the PH classifieds.

Having said that, I have been 'getting round' to sorting out those dents and dings for about a month now.

That sounds very tempting Alex. What will be the cost? Only had the new tyres ten weeks, so I shall not be wanting to destroy them just yet. I've never been on a track before, so your times are pretty safe I think.

Em- so you come quick.... nice to know...

Not sure if I want to buy tho, whats the service history like & can I have a test drive 1st

Pnarr pnaar

Anyway ennough of finbar- cost wise- nowt, but its not a trackday, more a chance to ar$e about for 3 laps round the whole of brunters with the super dooper expensive magazine daltron GPS stuff in ya car & set your best 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile & vmax, its not being timed round the circuit or anything.

In my old banger I got-

0-60 6.12
1/4 14.85
0-100 15.63
Vmax 131.38 (showed 140+ on speedo)

So you should be able to trash my Vmax at least= low top gear in Golfys & at 131 I only had another 200rpm to go! a chap got 135 but he has a raised rev limit & was pulling 300rpm more than mine revs to to get it!

A few of us did get to arse about at the end on the full track & also the circuit, but that was coz we asked nicely & I don't think its necessarily normal procedure.

Yeah! You probably couldn't afford me Alex. Never mind eh!

Sounds like an offer too good to be missed (Brunters that is, not test drive Arf!) I shall investigate further in the morning. I can safely act like an idiot and thrash the pants of dear old Barney! How could I possibly say, "No!"?

Your times don't half sound good mind you. I got my speedo up to 130MPH at Brunters on the straight, but it felt like I could have pushed it a lot further.

Em I took my 'rrado through the traps at a Vmax once, 130 on speedo, only equaled 116 on the lazer!

V slim chance I might posibly be at the VR6 day if mate can get his wagon sorted in time.

I've seen an indicated 140mph on mine on at least 2 occasions*

Well what a top day I have had a Brunters. I was the only Corrado amongst a load of gorgeous Golfs, including two fantastic Caddies (real wolves in sheep's clothing). I was a little disappointed with my times and probably could have pushed Barney a bit harder. I never quite got my Vmax right. I only managed an indicated 137MPH on speedo (I will have to wait for GPS readout for true speed). Other times were:

0-60MPH - 7.33 secs
0-100MPH - 18.4 secs (or thereabouts)
1/4 mile - 15.3 secs (ish)

Really great bunch of fellas, some very interesting cars and good banter.

The highlight of the day though was watching a nutty test driver caning an M5 on the corners. Sideways at full pelt in the wet - what a guy! Do you ever wish you chose a different career path?
