RS6 - Lambda Sensor
Discussion
Just before the last MOT on my 2014 RS6 the orange engine warning light came on. Despite the warning light being on, the Audi dealer (who shall remain nameless..) put it through an MOT.. despite knowing that an engine warning light would be an automatic fail...
Anyway, when they eventually did try to diagnose the problem they said that their diagnostic software was identifying the Upstream Bank 1 Lambda sensor as being at fault. They could not find a leak (apparently) from the catalytic converter, so thought it was a sensor fault. I therefore got the sensor replaced at an Indy for approximately 30% of the price quoted by the dealer
Roll forward 12 mths and the warning light has come on again; however this time accompanied by an odd whining noise. Car is still accelerating / working fine, but does make a funny noise when cruising; sounds like the engine is over-revving, but the rev counter suggests all is under control...
.. i had a slightly bonkers idea that maybe the internal engine noise amplifiers / speakers were playing up driven by the engine management system
Any ideas?
Many thanks
