Hi Guys

I need 7 seats so I've decided I'm going to get a Q7. Recently test drove one and it was fine. I have a budget of upto £40K, I have been looking for a few weeks but nothing has caught my eye.

To further complicate things I go on holiday for 3 weeks early next month and don't come back until April so I could feasibly wait until the first week in April before pulling the trigger.

I'm after some advice as I don't plan to finance the car, should I wait until I come back from holiday, I suppose in these 7 weeks it is possible to see them drop by a bit as the new reg will be out and more of the updated version will be available?

Is there anything spec wise I should be looking to definitely get? Anything I should definitely looking to avoid?

Is it worth putting an extra £20K or financing and getting the face lift version?

Have a look at Drive The Deal, you can get a new one that's not a million miles off your budget. I have one coming next month :-)

Thanks for replying. Do you know what the lead time is?

From their website I see you get a bigger discount from doing PCP is that the best way to go?

Ive never had PCP before, can I pay it off early?

I'm thinking about getting a SQ7.
Are there any owners that might want point out any things they don't like about the Q7?
Is the rear view camera completed exposed and prone to getting dirty every day?!?
Much prefer BMW / Merc where the camera is under a cover.

The lead in time was fairly long for mine (longer than I expected anyway), I ordered it in October and the car arrived in the UK last week. There isn't anything special about my car either that'd cause such a delay.

My understanding is that you can pay PCP off early, I have done it in the past (a long time ago though).

Just got a phenomenal deal on a Q7 - there’s plenty of stock about and mine comes next month. You can ‘withdraw’ from finance agreements within 14 days and pay no interest.

I haven't washed my SQ7 for the past 4 months while we had building works being done, the rear camera's a bit fuzzy now but with any kind of "normal" washing regime I didn't have any problem.

Not much I don't like about the Q7 in terms of usability, it's great at what we use it for. I don't like the popup screen on mine but that is fixed on the facelift model. The load space is massive - I got a 2m long kitchen table in the back of the thing once, and 2.4m lengths of timber as well. My long term average on the SQ7 is 34mpg and I've seen 40mpg on a run, which is astonishing given the performance on offer and the way I drive it (generally pretty loaded up and ..not slowly...).

Although it's a long car it's not as high as say a Range Rover (which was the alternative I considered) - you get in to the SQ7 but you have to climb up into the RR.

If I was buying again I might consider some of the interior options like the full leather package (i.e. console and doors). The cabin's a perfectly nice place to be but full leather elevates it another notch.

Seriously? Care to share what model you went for? I was thinking it might be 3 - 4 months before it arrive. I could hold on until then end of April but I think that's my lot.

Im going to call them first thing tomorrow

Well I rang DriveTheDeal, they have some Q7 black editions in stock with only a 3 week lead time.

Apparently the contribution from Audi is deposited after one month so I need to keep the finance that long before settling to get it the cheapest possible, which is no big problem.

Seems pretty easy to be honest....lets see what happens.
