Hi,

First time posting so apologies if not in the correct group / anything missing from this post however looking for some help to save some money / my sanity if possible please!

Looking to sell car this weekend VW Golf TDI 2.0 Mk6 2011 so naturally the engine warning light came on this week. Run diagnostics and got the following code...

P2425 00
[175] - Open Circuit

Understand this is a regular issue with diesels which are on short journeys and generally not ragged around, which is unfortunately how I generally drive. Tried warming it up, high rev's and some speed in low gears to try to clear through but as yet it isn't shifting the error.

Read up a lot on this and appreciate the best solution is to take off and replace however this appears to be a costly mechanic job, which I am not, and in any case requires a ramp. Read a lot about fuel cleaners and cleaners which you spray into the pipes. I know this might not work but for a tenner figured worth a go.

Looking to potentially use Wynns Diesel EGR Valve cleaner which states to spray into the EGR air intake system but I have a few questions:

- If I use this, can anyone tell me what I would disconnect and where I would spray it?
- Is the EGR as hidden away as I believe and hard to access to clean?
- Any other suggestions?

As selling looking for the quickest / cheapest method of getting it fixed whilst I flog it over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance for any help! J

P.S. Anyone want a Golf get in touch!

The valve could require more than cleaning so sadly its best left to a specialist.

Thanks for the quick response and the link.

I worried it would be something more serious though seems it could be one of the following:

Open or shorted EGR cooling valve control wiring or connectors.
Low engine coolant.
Defective EGR temperature sensor/s Clogged. EGR cooler.
Engine overheating.
Faulty EGR cooling fan.

I guess I’ll try to rule each one out somehow.
