Hi folks. Looking at getting an S3 in the next few weeks, any got any good advice to help me find a minter? Thanks in advance for your help.
I was in the same position a while back, got some good responses on this thread; www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=23&h=&t=178462
Apart from that, you'll need some patience -there's not many good, low-mileage ones out there. Good luck
I wouldn't worry too much about millege, I would check the drivers seat if it's got alcantara seats as these can get badly worn if not looked after!
I love the yellow ones, and I actually quite like the Alu wing mirrors, I think the blue and yellow ones look really special where as the black / grey / silver just look too normal.
Common faults are not too bad, check the gearbox from cold if possible as there can be problems with the syncro between 1-2-3 especially 2-3, normally hard to shift or crunching can be solved by gearbox oil change if not too bad.
another thing to check is the Air Mass Meter(MAF) cheap to fix but can cause hesitation etc.
I think they are without doubt one of the best most practical small cars, you look forward to it raining (or is that just me) grip is superb and it's very quick for real life driving not so for 0-60 as two gear changes are required!
hate posting links to other sites, but have a look on here, loads of info. www.audi-sport.net/

Black is more stealthy

Have to agree totally. I really do love driving it, especially post-AMD tweaking

Fantastic car. Black is the fastest colour
Had mine now almost a year and nothing has gone wrong. They introduced a facelifted model in 2001 which is worth looking out for.
Lots of information available on www.audi-sport.net
Have fun!
