Mk6 gold start/stop not working

Hi all, hoping someone might be able to shed light on my situation regarding start/stop not working.
I bought my 12 plate 1.6 tdi bluemotion golf from my SIL in August. She isn’t very mechanically minded and wasn’t aware/ bothered that the start/stop function didn’t work. I presumed it was because it had been switched off, however when troubleshooting, this wasn’t the case. I’ve hooked the car up to a battery charger which indicated it was fully charged. I then saw a YouTube video for an Audi with a similar problem which indicated the abs sensors could be dirty with road grease/grime. I’ve checked these too and all are clean. There’s no fault warning light showing a problem either. I’m at a loss as to what to do next. It’s been driven for short and long journeys in summer, autumn and winter conditions where the engine has had time to warm up etc so don’t think that is a contributing factor.
Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Maybe take it to someone, ideally with proper VW diagnostic kit, who can read and interpret the codes? Just randomly doing stuff can be pretty futile on a modern car.

There are about 20 parameters that have to be met before it works. As above really, you need to get it scanned.
