A6 Allroad High Level Brake Light MOT
Discussion
The Allroad is due its MOT next week and although i replaced the HLBL when i took ownership 7 years ago it now often produces a fault and fails then starts to work again & clears.
Sods law dictates this will occur at MOT time, is this an MOT failure if its fitted & doesn't work? Normal brake lights work okay, i suspect there is damp but i don't have time to attend to it this side of MOT.

Additional / non-mandatory stop lamps which are fitted and connected need to be tested.
Assuming you can't fix the fault, are you able to disconnect the high level lamp such that the tester can see it's been disconnected ?
If its the same as the Audi A6 Avant it's pretty easy to unclip the top part of the inner plastic cover, bend it back and get at the light unit without having to totally remove the inner hatch cover, which is a total ballache. I found a couple of videos on Youtube showing it. It does seem quite violent and drastic, but I did it with mine without damaging anything and replaced the unit with an aftermarket one from ebay in about 20 mins as I was getting the error and a couple of the LEDs had stopped working.
