Older Audi A4, help needed

Hello,

I'm interested in buying my first Audi, the model i've got my eye on is a at a local auction:-

A4 1.8SE Avant '97R Blue 97'000 petrol

Any tips on what i should keep my eye out for, on this car and any others i see. i.e any particular service items i should check/ get done.
Is it a timing belt or chain?

and what is SE spec?


This car would just be my daily drive, so not interested in big performance, but any idea what the 0-60 is, fuel consumption etc

Any help would be very much appreciated -
