I recently bought a skoda fabia 2003 (52 plate) and havent driven it 10 miles and the electronic engine management light and the EPC light came on, the car was to clear and i havent got much money on me, can anyone give me any advice on what the issue could be? i have only been driving one year and this is my second car as my first car was driven into and was written off, if anyone could help me i would really appretiate it.

My son has a 2001 Fabia. We had no end of issues with the egr valve.

Do you have an OBDII reader?

older cars throw up codes, you need vdcs (vagcom), if the car is still driving o.k i wouldn't worry too much. I would be checking battery/alternator first. Maybe it's been stood for a while.

Without knowing what the light is on for it could be a 20p fix or it could be fit to scrap - the only way of knowing is getting the fault codes read.

It turns out it is the Evaporative emission regeneration system but the guy from the AA said he will clear the code and if it comes back on get it fixed, how much is the part to replace like?

If its the purge valve the part is like £50 like. Not sure what the labour cost would be.
