Are you sure it hasn't just broken off its mounting? I had this problem with an older Leon and a Toledo from the early 2000s - in both cases the welds had snapped where the clutch pedal assembly was attached to the operating fulcrum in the bulkhead. It took just a few minutes welding at a local garage.

Does it come back if you pump it? I had a similar issue with my old mk6 gtd had to have master, slave, pedal, clutch and flywheel done. (Basically both the master and slave were faulty and when they took off the box the clutch and flywheel were not long for this world either).

The master and slave are both weak points as is the knuckle on the pedal assembly, so it made sense to replace all at once.

System is hydraulic and it sounds like either the master or slave cylinder has failed. Unfortunately if it's turns out to be a slave cylinder failure, it's a gearbox off Job.
