VW GOLF MK5 2007 1.9TDI Engine Hesitation with MAF Sensor

I have a VW Golf MK5 2007 (57reg) 1.9TDI (Engine Code BXE) which has issues with the MAF sensor plugged in. When the MAF sensor is plugged in the engine starts to struggle and hesitates, but when the MAF sensor is not plugged in the engine runs perfectly fine. I have bought a new MAF sensor from VW but still the same issue. Could anyone guide me to solve this issues?
