RS4 Avant 2018 need to tick the box or not ?
Discussion
Hi there, I have always wanted to tick the RS4 avant box.
had mainly Porsches and now have the opportunity to purchase a 2018 RS4 avant in the colour I want.
I will probably keep it for a couple of years ? just wanted to know if they are that much more or less to run than a 911 GTS ?? anything else i need to know be aware of ?
cheers

I've not had any wheel time in the B9 RS4 (bit new for me) but I have played with all the previous generations a lot and messed around with a few 911s.
Elephant in the room: An RS4 is a considerably better car than motoring hacks will tell you. It doesn't drift, nobody cares. There are few better real world performance cars.
The difference is (in cheesy terms) that you live with an RS4, you live for a Porsche. You can drive an RS4 just for s
ts and giggles but that isn't its party trick. Its speciality is being fun and fast and nice and good looking and entertaining AND fitting in around everyday life. Some dynamic compromises come with this because of course they do.
If your car is only there to make you drin when you've the time and the space to drive it properly then stick with the Porsche. If you want your performance car to be more usable around the rest of your lfie then get the RS4.

Well I have a new RS5, very similar running costs... had a first service last week by Audi - £270 for first inspection and oil service. Done around 9,000 miles. I know with Porsche is it every 2 years or 20,000 miles, on Audi it is variable. No issues so far, probably need to replace tyres in around 4,000 miles, they will be cheaper than your 911
As said the RS4 is similar, they are pretty rare cars as they have not been making them of late, order books only just opened again with a decent price increase! and limited numbers..
Performance wise owners recorded 0-60 times of 3.5 seconds, so doesn't hang about... I think it has a nice blend of luxury and very capable all weather machine.. RS4 gives you more space and extra doors over mine..

I have had 911s - from 2.2s to GT3s - for last 30 years and have had the latest RS4 for 15k miles, and love it. An amazing daily drive. Fast. Secure. Handles well. Refined. And low key (mine is silver and debadged) if you prefer that sort of thing. And no stupid Porsche bills (components on 911s like cooling pipes, fixings, and suspension bushes seem to be made of chocolate these days and I am forever needing something replaced).
