All,

It's time to upgrade the little 1.8 Polo GTI and I'm deeply considering the new Polo GTI as it seems like the perfect package and a great little daily runner so I'm just looking for any owner or general opinions on this little car.

I don't really do a lot of 'hard' driving but I still like to have a blast around every now and then and have confidence in the car when I'm doing it. Also, love the tech inside the new Polo's with the Active Info dash and so on as well as the fact that it's quite a rare car.

Thanks in advance smile

My wife is in similar situation but doesn't want a DSG - no manual option on the new one

Why not just stick with what you got? I much prefer the 1.8 GTI to the new polo. In fact the new polo’s look awful imo. Interior is a little better but exterior is hideous. You could stage 2 your current to 250hp which will be a hell of fun.

The new Polo GTi is quite classy.

I was looking for a run-around to keep in Europe this year to replace my Renaultsport RS, and considered the Polo GTi Plus against the competition - all the way up to the Golf R.

It packs a decent punch, is very refined, quite sporty, excellent quality, and the DSG works, mostly, very well. It feels like a bigger car but is more compact than the Golf. I was pleasantly impressed.

It's not as sporting as a Fiesta ST or Clio RS, but has other qualities. I liked the looks, and the black roof or panoramic sunroof and18" wheels make it more distinctive.

Biggest problem seems to be availability - very few in circulation with 20 - 40 week deliveries being quoted, although there may be a few in unallocated transit

I've got one on a ship right now, a GTi+ model, am really looking forward to it. There is still a huge wait when ordering from scratch, mine was one already in the system with a build week confirmed.

Manchester VW have got a new, unregistered red GTi+ for sale at the moment if you are looking to jump the wait times.

Nice! Bet you're excited for it!

Do you know the date when you get to pick it up? Would love to see some pictures and get your first impressions of it.

According to marinetraffic.com it's just coming up to Spain (all right hand drive Polos are made in South Africa now) and has to get dropped off in Emdem in Germany, then wait for a ship to Grimsby and then wait for a transporter to the dealers so I'm not expecting it until at least the 2nd week in June. Will post some pics when it finally turns up.
