I still keep looking at these and wondering if I should take the plunge..
Has anyone here got one or driven one that can tell me a bit more about how it drives and if it feels special enough? If I've done my calculations right it's approx 240hp/ton power-to-weight, and possibly more if SportAuto (?) tested it at around 330hp!?

If 306hp and a dry weight of 1375kg, it's a lot less than 240/tonne. Add fluids and fuel and it will be around the 215/tonne mark.
I like them, but can't see the point of having a 3 door hatch with only 2 seats. Personally, I'd get the ED40/Clubsport or a better, driver focused 2 seater instead (plenty choice if spending over 30k).

The S is a surprisingly different drive to the 40, but I agree re no rear seats (and no spare).I like them, but can't see the point of having a 3 door hatch with only 2 seats. Personally, I'd get the ED40/Clubsport or a better, driver focused 2 seater instead (plenty choice if spending over 30k).
Have a look on the Volkswizard youtube channel for detailed reviews and thoughts.
Apart from the S specific spring/damper rates, front (2 piece) brake discs and pads, a rear wing and a removal of the stupid 'over boost' function, it's pretty much a Clubsport.
VW could have done more with it though, such as the 370mm Brembos and -2 deg front camber spindles from the Cupra R.
It's not a bad effort, but certainly not worth speculators cumming in their pants over, or paying over the odds for.

The Clubsport S is an incredible car. My vehicle background is heavily based rear drive & manual centric. Lotus, VX, M's and Porsche (Cayman R, GT3 and GT4) plus a few RenaultSports including R26R.
Even from that background I can honestly say the Clubsport S is absolutely fantastic and just as special as any car I've owned. Don't waste any time - get out there and buy one!
My first was bought new in Dec 2016 which I had to sell about a year later. I missed it so much I have just bought my second. Its fabulous to drive, incredibly quick, understated, and resists deprecation.
Just brilliant cars and very very special. Buy one before they all end up being collectors cars.

Thanks for replies. My mistake re the power-to-weight I quoted above... I got a figure (Google) of 1285kg but didn't realise this was unladen and not EU! Bit misleading.
Thanks for the reply R1nur. I've always gone for RWD too (GT3 / GT4 / Spyder / GTS / CSL / 1M / c63) but fancy a FWD hot hatch this time and the Golf is quite a good looking hot hatch IMO. I also quite fancy a Mini JCW (manual / 231hp) or possibly the new Megane. It's a shame the Civic Type-R looks the way it does because the reviews are stonking. Whatever I buy I want to do a few track days in it.

Ah yes I recognise your username from the Porsche forum. I probably live too far away, however if you are ever in Cornwall you'd be welcome to try out the CSS.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
