Chaps and Chapettes

I just bought a 2012 TTS Convertible (after my S2000 was written off thanks to some [expletive deleted] woman), and it's fantastic. However, the only negative is the stereo. While I can pair my phone for calls, it doesn't pair for audio.

I've had a look online and there's so much conflicting information over so many different versions (and Audi's own accessories shop doesn't agree) it's difficult to pin down exactly what is going on. So with that in mind, here is a picture of what I found.

I have 2 questions.

1. Is there any kind of firmware upgrade/update so I can use my phone's media?
2. If not, what is the maximum size/type/class of SD card I can put into the slots?

I don't think there is A2DP streaming for this generation of TTS, only on the Gen 2 TTS. I think there is around 10GB for the jukebox in the car. However, before all that I recommend checking for a port in your glovebox that is large and rectangular, or better still check your spec sheet for AMI. If you have AMI, you can link up your phones music library directly into the cars system, with songs appearing in the instrument cluster and steering wheel control etc. Works well with iPhones, especially if you have apple music.

I’d personally rip it out and replace with an aftermarket unit. 3-400 quid will get you a much better, newer system with carplay/android auto. It wouldnt have nav but you can use google maps for that in carplay.

Random question in relation to that headunit..

Do you get an annoying 'bong' when you connect and disconnect your phone via the bluetooth? Is there a way to switch it off? My dad has the same unit and its a pain in the ass every time he starts the car.

Yes I get the bong. No idea what to do with it.

Anyway, thread necromancy here. I forked out a couple of quid for an MMI cable, and have plugged in my old ipod nano. I've been playing on shuffle for all tracks but when I turn the car off, and then back on again later, it doesn't remember it was on shuffle at all. Does anyone know of a way to overcome this? It's really annoying putting it back on each time I start the car, and it starts again so I hear repeated tracks

Tunes2Air is the easiest way to stream via bluetooth with RNS-E, assuming you have AMI or MMI cable connection. If you have a 40 pin cable for the MMI already, you can get a genuine Apple fly lead to convert 40 pin to lightning which then gives you charging as well as full control as a media source.

Looks like you have 2017 maps, so not too ancient.
