Popped into my local to enquire about a A4 on PCH had the most bizarre experience with sales stating PCP is cheaper and refusing to quote a PCH price.

The quote incidentally is approx £150 p/m more than the PCH figure on the audi website quote tool, is this normal for Audi dealers to not offer PCH even when explicitly asked for during the sales consultation?

I know VW dealers are little picky on PCH and only offer if asked but even still quite shocked at how insistent they where on finance needing to be PCP, I'm an existing VWFS customer so can't be anything eligibility wise behind the attitude.

I had similar last year at a VW dealer, really didn't want to quote for PCH and kept pushing the PCP.

My Dad has had an A6 Allroad and now an A4 Allroad direct from an Audi main dealer (Preston) on PCH. You will likely need to speak to the Fleet person in the dealership for PCH.

This. You're talking to the wrong salespeople.

They where the same with me when we ordered our A3, told them we wanted PCH and had found one online, they wanted to quote for PCP which we let them do, they said you get 2 free services but it came out £70 more a month than the PCH with maintenance on it!

The dealer basically said, if we can sell you a PCP car we get more money. Which is fair enough.

It was a pretty rubbish experience all the way though, we booked a test drive of s A3 saloon with comfort suspension and the 1.5tsi engine. They didn’t have one but didn’t tell us, ended up driving a A3 hatchback which was one of the staffs and it was full of Lego and yogurt.
They where 45 mins late for that too.

Then when we collected it they where late as well.

Pretty naff experience tbh

Not really the right approach to customer service TBH having ask for fleet to get PCH and more to the point having to know to ask for fleet.

The curious thing I found is on stating at reception I'd like to discuss contract hire lease costs they still put me with a retail sales person, even as someone that leased cars before how was I know that retail couldn't/wouldn't do PCH.

Interesting as part of the FCA guidance is that dealers are supposed to treat customers fairly so if someone asks for a PCH price and gets steered into PCP as it suits the dealer they are not acting in the customers best interests unless they know the PCH product on unsuitable for them.
