Intermitten P0160 + Sooty Tail Pipes Audi TT8j

Good evening everyone
I have a tt 8j 2010/11 2.0 TFSI
Its a low mileage example and Im inclined to keep it
A few weeks back it threw both ESP and EML warning at the same time and intermittently has thrown either or both.
I changed the MAP sensor last week without much improvement but.....within 10 mins of startup yep - a ESP fault then a few mins/miles later - still not at normal running temp I pull up at a roundabout and EML illuminates
Something inside me said- wait... this is to do with temperature. So the car sits overnight and the next day I start it, and leave it to run up to about 60' on the drive way - jump in drive - smooth- responsive and no EML or ESP lights. I repeated the exercise - jump in and drive - either or both lights. Warm the car up before driving - no lights..
Something tells me it a sensor just not quite getting the message and running everything rich but still not behaving. Should I go looking at the Lamda sensor(s)?
