Hi everyone, I’ve recently bought a nice 2010 A5 3.0 TDI quattro, loving it so far!, anyway I ordered a lead for the music connection in the glovebox, it plugs into the car fine, plugs into the phone fine- phone charges up etc, but when I go to select it, all I get by the usb symbol on the nav is not compatible.
Lead is a Audi to lightning cable and phone is an iPhone XR, anyone got any ideas?, don’t know if it might need a software update?.

It should be coming up under the option of AMI in the media page of the MMI. We have a 59 plate A6 and it has the MMI 3G High system with the joystick on the controller. However, we use Apple Music for songs on our phones, meaning that the car recognises the Apple Music library as the iPod music library of the phone. All the playlists and albums appear on the MMI as well as the DIS, which is very useful when driving. Using Spotify may not work as well as Apple Music, or whatever else there is, however I haven't tested it on other music streaming services, only youtube (which does work).

It's also good to use a fine brush on the ports for the cable, as it is likely that the previous owner never used it. Cleaning the contacts could help in all situations.

Thanks, I will give it another try and get a pic of the lead too, when I selected media before it just came up as not compatible, only other thing I can think of is maybe I bought the wrong lead somehow?.

I did get confused as to which cable you needed for lightning connectivity for the AMI. Think there is two separate cables for the different MMI systems, ours seems to have a white neck around the cable at one end. There is different part numbers. Considering the price, I decided to be as safe as possible and use Audi themselves to acquire a cable, and they did source the right one. Was pricey but I will pay that much to ensure there is no issues.
