so confused over various configurations appearing in, in particular, the TT and A/S3 ranges.....
I am trying to home in on best 'bang for buck' route - I would be happy with either TT or '3'

I kinda hear that, mainly because of different turbo fitted that the 'TSi' is better than 'TFSi' - then there is the K04 complication..It would seem that despite the 2.0 TSi 8v being fitted to the S3 rather than the more Sporty TT it is easier to tune to higher levels? - ie c 390bhp rather than 340bhp without having to upgrade the Tcharger

I am no doubt missing a lot of important facts - can we use this thread to clarify as simply as possible:
1) if the TSi can offer the above extra 50bhp for same st2 map and downpipe on 99 octane - from what year avail in uk? - In what specific car models?

2) Is the Tsi the nicer engine to drive (on St2) character wise? - I would opt for DSG to avoid clutch upgrade and possibly accept limitations of intercooler upgrade for a while at lest

3) With the DSG and ideally 4wd, I would be happy with an aggressive torque map

4) is one wildly more thirsty than the other during general driving?

5) does one sound better than the other, ideally sportscat downpipe and sports air filter only?

6) does one require additional mods, eg Fuelpump upgrade?

Hmm, is it that the TT 'S' model has the TSi? - In which case, presumably an S3 would be cheaper route?

Looking at both the initial purchase + tune cost / performance

thx

What years are you talking about? All of the modern (since 2014) TTs are the TFSi, as are the latest S3s - they all use the EA888 engine.

S3 and TTS share the 306hp engine with the Golf R, these can be tuned to over 400hp / 500Nm but you'll need gearbox mods and exhaust upgrades. Normal Stage 1s are 350hp / 425Nm or so and can be done on stock drivetrain.
