Evening all, I need to replace my ageing Passat wagon, I was looking for a Subaru Legacy as a 4wd load carrier that can do a lot of miles. However, there aren’t many around with the right spec, but I have come across a b7 S4 that looks very nice. Is 100 000 miles a lot on an Audi ? Do they do a lot more easily, or are there expensive bills to be had ? I only do 3-4000 miles a year so I won’t put that many on it.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The cars suffer with the typical A4 problems of that generation, main areas of concern are rattly timing chains in the engine and corroded radiators under the headlights. Clutch can take a beating and usually needs the DMF changing at the same time so not cheap.

Car is heavy on tyres, I'm changing a set of 4 at 10-15k miles, if you get a car registered before march 2016 you will have cheaper road tax.

Worth googling for a buyers guide or look on rs246.com

Lastly, do bear in mind these were £40k cars when new so will have repairs costs to match despite being 10+ years old and less than £10k to buy today.
