Just bought a nice mk1 TT and looking to add new damping. Can anyone recommend the best option, which to buy and where to get it done? I’m in Cardiff.

Thinking KW3 but are there any less expensive options?

Just edited to say I’d like to keep the original ride height as much as possible and maintain a good ride but want better damping and road holding.

I would try the oem TT '240 Sport' suspension and see how you get on with that.

If you find that too stiff and crashy, you won't like KW V3s, or Bilstein B14s etc etc because, to be blunt, the MK1 TT / MK4 Golf platform flexes too much to make top end suspension kits worthwhile. Been there, wasted the money, got the Tee shirt.

You might want to talk to Grant Motorsport in Bristol who have lots of on and off track experience.

Ok cheers for the suggestions. The car was bought as an upgrade to a friends diesel polo. It was cheap and hence I just want to add some decent damping as what’s on it now feels tired. I’m aware they’re not the best handing cars and feel quite numb / not a great platform.

I was advised to look at the ST X passive dampers from KW. Anyone think this is a good route? I want decent damping non stuff and crashy / better than it currently has. ST X coming in at about a grand fitted.

I’ve replaced ball joints and suspension arms which were tired.

Cheers

oem sport shocks are around 80-100 each and the springs will be the around the same and yes you will get these from an audi dealer or if you know someone with a TPS account you can get them from them.

Also might be worth looking into uprated antiroll bars.

OEM springs with Bilstein B8 (I think they are called, might be B6 for OEM springs) dampers should be good.

A great upgrade is to replace the bushes with powerflex to include the steering rack BUT include cb auto "cookbots" to go to the pre-recall setup. The Bilstein b series "developed on Nurburgring" is supposed to be better than standard and then put R32 front and rear anti rolls bars, straight swap with powerflex bushes.

The suspension from top mounts wear regularly so swap to powerflex too (easy spot is a gap between strut top and mount)

My car is really smooth with this lot and it is a Roadster (Roadster subframe has extra bracing)
