So, this is a Jan 2009 Le Man 3.0 TDI A6. I bought it with only one key and that key has disappeared.

Having pulled the house apart, the only place I can think it might be is in the car somewhere. I have looked inside and can't actually see anything so it may be wishful thinking on my part.

So, called the AA and the guy who came out tried to pick the lock but couldn't. He's arranged for his AA mate (who apparently has the touch) to come out in the morning. While he was there he said that he didn't think the key would be in the car because this generation of A6 won't lock with the key in the car? My C5 will happily lock itself but thankfully I have the second key for this.

Can anyone confirm whether or not a 2009 A6 has some electronic setup that means it won't lock with the key loose in the car?

Cheers,

Al.

Don't know for certain but think it's unlikely. How could something have enough fidelity to know they key is in the car and not 2 inches from the window outside.

Thanks all,

The keys turned up. I'm going to buy a new full fob from Audi Belfast. At £260 not as expensive as I thought.

Only if it has keyless where the proximity sensor would let you unlock it again straight away.
