After some advice please. Parents have just bought a 67reg Mk7 golf from their local main dealers.

The issue is it doesn’t have a hand book so they are struggling to get to grips with phone / sat nav etc. They even had to go back to the dealers to find out how to open the petrol filler as it’s different to their last mk5 golf which had a button on the drivers door to open it.

Dealer has told them they don’t come with handbooks now. Not even a service book and it’s all on line.

Is this right ? I have an older (2015) Mk7 Golf and that came with a handbook and service book, but maybe VW have changed things and no longer provide one??

Or is the dealer trying to fob them off because the last owner (presumably VW demo) lost it?

Thanks

They should come with a handbook for the car (using, instruments, etc) but they don’t come with a service book as that is all online.

(Purchased my car new in June 18 and this is what I got)

My 2018 golf came with a handbook (I'm the first owner)

What if you're in the middle of no where, flat tyre, and want confirmation of where your jacking point is? Online manual is no good.

On the note of service book, does anyone know if you can get one if you want one?

My Golf (August 18) has two manuals. One for general controls and one for the infotainment system. So yes, you should have a manual. Dealer probably messed up somewhere.

Thanks everyone. Will tell them to go back to the dealers to ask for the handbook!

Straight up lie from the dealer, I have a wallet full of handbook(s) sitting here for my 2018 GTI.
