Amarok coolant loss
Discussion
I have a 2013 plate 2.0 amarok that recently developed coolant loss without any visible leaks and when idling would smoke something chronic. I did a bit of research and 99% of cases seemed to suggest the egr cooler. I took it to a local audi/vw garage locally that has a good reputation and they confirmed it was dropping from 1.0 bar to about 0.5 bar and that it was the cooler leaking, so authorised them to carry out the required work. Some 3 weeks later (yesterday) i had the coolant light come on again and noticed there was still excessive smoking from the exhaust. I have taken the vehicle back to them and they pressure tested the system and it stayed at 1.0 bar which i was informed was the correct pressure level. They have also done a gas test to check there is no trouble with the head gasket which they are happy there is not. I have left the vehicle with them at their request but i am a bit stumped that if there is a new egr cooler on the vehicle and they have checked for various symptons in the head, then how else would coolant be getting into the exhaust system??
