VW Passat 2.5 V6 TDI estate, any good?
Discussion
Hi all, I hope you can give me some advice on this please.
I have been wanting to change my car for a while now and have always fancied a Passat TDI estate.
Have been to see a few, but all 1.9's. Yesterday I went to see a V6 TDI, in met black, with black/alcantara interior. 02 plate, 6speed, 49k on the clock, all main dealer history etc. A very nice car indeed.
Does anyone have any comments on these cars, has anyone got one etc, things to look outfor etc.
Any help or comments would be great cheers
Jonathan

Skoda Octavia and a holiday with the money saved?
Does the job just as well, maybe better.
Dealers are better too.
Not in my experience! (not forgetting I am in Hungary).
The Octavia is noticeably smaller and the quality is much poorer. I have now got the A6 2.5 TDi quattro estate, another step up in quality terms.
My 2001 Octavia was practically falling apart when I sold it.

Yeah, I have put a deposit on an 02 plate estate, met black with black leather and alcantara. 6speed manual 49k, full VW history etc, a very nice car.
Just was wondering if it was any or much better than a 4 pot sport diesel?
In my opinion (and not to knock your decision in any way!) the V6 is disappointingly not much better than the four-cylinder, and also not much better than the 5-cylinder diesel it replaced (a fine unit). Nothing wrong with it, except that the 1.9 is so good. So unless you really need the V6 tdi for the little extra go, or are towing etc, the four cylinder is better for most.
On the other hand, the new Passat has gone back to transverse engine layout, so this will be the last V6 diesel Passat, so maybe it wins on novelty?
