2007 Audi A5 MMI system fault

Hi guys,

The MMI system on my A5 3.0tdi is faulty. It no longer turns on with the ignition and needs the button holding down. Once it turns on however it shows it's initial start up screen and then shuts goes black.

I'm only burrowing the car so I've not much experience with it. I've taken it to a local garage who reckoned it was one of the boxes in the boot. But didn't say much else. Their diagnostic printout reads "Status: cannot be reached 1100".

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Very likely the MMI amplifier is goosed.

Top of the stack behind nearside trim panel in the boot, silver cover/heatsink on top. Often a victim of water ingress.
