Audi A6 2.0 TDI CVT whine

Hi all,
I have a A6 2.0 TDI with a CVT 7 speed gearbox. The car has developed quite a whine/grounding noise when setting off, it still changes gear absolutely fine. The noise gets greater with speed and is virtually un noticeable at motorway speeds (this might be due to the increased road noise).
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve been told it could be the wheel bearing but its not a whirring noise, I’ve also been told it could be a ‘gearbox bearing’.
There’s also a slight judder at start up which I’m not sure is related.
Any ideas folks?
