VW Transporter T5.1 - DMF / Vibration?
Discussion
Hello - this is posted here rather than in Commercial due to the EA189 powertrain being in such widespread use in VAG cars.
I have a 2013 facelift (T5.1) Transporter, with a camper conversion. Originally, it was a base 84hp / 168lb.ft 2.0 TDI, which I understand is identical the 140hp version - albeit with a 5 rather than 6 speed transmission.
8 months ago, the van was remapped to c.165hp / 280lb.ft by one of the biggest names in the business, as is apparently "safe" and normal for these. Apart from an exhaust gas sensor, the van has been fine since - and has otherwise only needed routine servicing in its 5.5 years.
I do however notice some vibration during acceleration from 1,500 to 2,000rpm, usually in 5th gear. It's a minor irritant and I drive around it, but I suspect it may be DMF wear. There are also other signs such as light judder on take off in 1st and reverse.
The van is driven with sympathy, usually on long journeys and typically does 5,000 miles a year. I know some remaps are superior to others, but on balance I think this is due more to wear and tear than the remap alone. I suspect any T5 of this age and 46k miles is going to have signs of DMF or clutch wear.
My question is whether the above seems reasonable - and whether anyone else has had something similar? Is this just something I should live with, rather than taking action now?

Every t5 I’ve had with the 102 engine has had a shudder on taking off , the one time I had one remapped it was a lot worse and used to shake under acceleration, this was put down to the map being too aggressive low down, the better mappers reduce the torque in the lower gears , the 140 bhp t5 I bought had no issue with shudder even after a remap
