A colleague is looking to buy an 01' registered TT225 Roadster privately, which has been inspected by the AA. They picked up a suspected gearbox 'noise' in 2nd, 3rd & 4th under acceleration, which is not described as loud in any way- but obviously raises a question mark. Anyone here ever experienced/heard of anything like this?

Audi Guildford say they've never heard of anything like this before, so...?????

Otherwise the car is tip-top according to the inspection report. 45k miles by the way.

Any advice appreciated.

Quite a few problems cropping up with the 02m box on various VAG forums. Some changed under warranty others just change the oil and hope it works.

I changed a low milage TT g/box (225bhp)last year and know of many more that have given up big time, this one threw its diff out of the side and wreaked the dual mass flywheel to,g/boxes were on back order so had to wait for one, look for tell tail sign's of tran's oil leaking from bell housing this can indicate a crack forming then diff failer.

Gotta admit have never heard of this one from any of the VAG forums.

A few clutches going when chipped etc but nothing more.
