I've got an option to buy a 2014 High Mile 2.0 TDI Highline Golf for the wife and need to make a decision quickly.
Its been a rep/fleet car and full service history. I haven't seen it in person but looks it good nick.

Sitting on 207,000km (129k miles).

To be honest it's a pain in the ringer logistic wise to go and get it but I'm keen and feel my offer is just over half what the same car with half the k's is around. It's an auction car with no reg but okay condition report.
My last punt like this proved to be an amazingly good buy on an R36 Wagon this is still solid.

I think the timing chain (it is a chain yeah?) at the least is probably due.
Anything else I should consider?

Cheers.

I'd say it's worth a go! I've had a Mk6 2.0 TDI which covered well over 100k in 4-years without issue, then a Mk7 GTD which happily did 40k miles in 18-months. They're built to do the miles as both cars still felt fresh and solid.

Pretty sure it will be the EA288 engine with a belt rather than chain. Will be due a change if it hasn't had one yet. Good luck thumbup

It's got a max of 30k left in it before you get all sorts of trouble.

Quick update I've bought it!

I fly to pick it it next Friday. Only a 1,600km trip to bring it home.
What could possibly go wrong smile

I did a carbon copy bargain purchase and trip two years ago in my R36 and it briefly ended up on a flat tray.
Only due to the auction house sending me on my way with a knackered battery.

Nice one! Let us know how it works out

I thought my 500 mile drive getting my M135i home from Aberdeen last year was pretty long, but 1600km takes things to another level hehe
