Hi
Ive got a Mk1 1.8 20v Cupra 05 plate.
I had someone come to my house yesterday to remap a supposidly unmapped car. He tried and tried, but unfortunately it wasnt working for some reason. He then tried again, looking at anything which could of been causing the problem - nothing!
So he went on his way and I then go to go out in my car an hour later and its lost all power! No turbo, it feels like a standard 1.6 Leon now.
Does anyone know what I can do, wether if i take the battery out for half hour, will it reset it or do I have to buy a whole new ECU.
Thanks in advance!

Have you got an OBD code reader?
He's possibly knocked it into limp mode when he's been fiddling with the ECU. If you don't have an OBD reader pick up a cheapo one and read the codes off it, if there's any there I'd clear them and take the car for a drive to see if they come back.
In fact - if the car was fine before he messed with it why don't you call him and ask him to sort it?

Hi,
Yes I have a OBD reader, I will plug it back in later and clear any codes.
I did call him back and he came out staright away but swore blind that he didnt delete anything or alter it. But he has said if we get it back to standard then he will come out and do a stage 2 map for free. But until then he cant help me. Bit of a pain but the problem may of been that the car was already mapped without me knowing, which obviously means you cant remap it again unless you know what you know about the original mapping.
So fustrating!

He sounds a bit guilty if he's offering a free map after supposedly not touching anything. Did you get it sorted eventually?Yes I have a OBD reader, I will plug it back in later and clear any codes.

Hi,
Unfortunately not sorted yet. Plugged it in to OBD reader and there were no faults. I recently put a K&N filter on and now It’s cutting power at 5,500revs. So I may change it back to the original air filter and see if it was a coincidence as to it cutting out but being because of something different.
