I'm thinking of buying a UK Mk7.5 with the digital cockpit, and have a question.

The car will be spending most of the next year out of the UK in Europe - so can you change the units to show a full Kph speedo instead of mph?

No.

You have a MPH dial readout but you can change the central and bottom right digits (under the dials) to KMH/MPH.

I was disappointed with this as well as I thought it must be an easy software addition.

Thanks for that, and agreed rather disappointing for a simple software tweak

FYI, this is what KMH looks like on a MPH car. KMH in centre and bottom of speedo dial. Sorry it’s upside down, I bloody hate uploading photos from an iPhone as they always come out in different directions.

If anybody can rotate, please do.

Don't know if the same applies to newer models? but my Son has a (older model) Golf that has analogue rev counter/speedo and a central digital speedo, however it would only display in kmh (something to do with EU regs requiring both mph and kmh displays but the single-scale speedo being mph only).

I changed it to show mph using VCDS but to do so had to select 'Australia' rather than 'UK' for model and then change units to mpg.

Selecting Australia didn't invert it though... hehe

Seems crazy they don’t let you change it as all the other measuring values can be switched in vehicle settings. Might have a play with the Virtual Cockpit in my TT to see whether Audi have placed the same restriction scratchchin

I've got the Virtual Cockpit in the A3 and you can definitely change the units so the speedo is in km/h instead of mph.

Seems crazy you can't on the VW version. You sure it's not in car settings somewhere under "Units"?

The above photo is with units changed to kmh and I’ve checked on other VW forums and been advised that the speedo dials can’t be toggled from MPH to KMH without coding. Everybody agrees it’s ridiculous.

I’d be keen if someone’s knows differently but I can’t see it (and have tried extensively).

For clarity, my car is a Passat but the software is the same as the Golf.

I tried it on my 7.5 R and can confirm it only changes the the small speed readout bottom right.

Also for no obvious reason I can discern, the speedo goes:

20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 160, 200. Bizarre.

Mine is a diesel hence I’m limited to 160 MPH biggrin

Best I managed was to get the speed in km/h displayed inside the dial, but the dial seems to have an attachment to only show mph.

Has anyone else spotted that the dial around where the 'needle' is pointed glows whiter than the rest of the dial and the highlighted bit moves as the needle moves? Nice touch.
