Just bought a 2009 Scirocco GT TSI DSG to compensate for my quite crappy car history. Really enjoying so far but have 2 issues and wondering if other owners have had similar.
First is something has come loose in the tailgate which sounds like a small pebble rattling along the edge of the boot lid when you open or close it... this is new but doesn't seem to affect the functioning at all.
Second is an intermittent whine at idle from under the dash (?) which doesn't seem to be related to throttle opening/ closing or the dsg selection (just had oil/ filter changed) , though does appear more in lots of traffic than on a more open drive.
Any thoughts welcome!

Hi,
There’s many things that it could be. It could be your fan belt is worn and all shiney leading to it slipping. It could be your tensioner has become slack or even the bearings it your alternator or tensioner idler is starting to go. I had a similar problem but mine was a screechy sound on cold start then would disappear after 15/20 min of driving. I diagnosed this as the water pump bearings. When I got the water pump out of the car the propellor was so rough. After replacing this everything was fine. You could do with popping the bonnet and getting a along screwdriver or stethoscope and pointing it where you think the noise is coming from and put it to your ear.
