Golf 5 "error" on DIS

Colleague's Golf (5 I think) when opening drivers door, bongs and shows "error" below the odometer.

Any ideas?

Could be a cluster fault, does it flash between error and the odometer?

If it's a DSG box car and Error is displayed where the gear numbers are then I guess it's a gearbox fault.

If it turns out to be a cluster fault, these chaps do refurbs.

Ah, interesting, I assumed it was an auto but it could well be DSG.
