Sorry if there is threads on this. Just brought a lovely Gt 170 mark 5 57 plate, 1 lady owner. 53,000 on the clock £5000. Question was will I still get lag on a remap without messing about with the dpf? And what's the score on MOT if I did take the dpf apart. That lag through the gears has to go as it's ruining the driving experience. Cheers

Dpf missing is an MOT failure and with the new MOT rules they are supposed to be cracking down harder on it not working or missing etc.

What you do is up to you and also your own conscious as you'd be knowingly belching even more particulate and st out. From an ethical standpoint its a bit st to remove it but hey.

I'd check your map TBH , any reputable remapper would have spotted this and adjusted accordingly .

Removing the DPF wont make any difference to the lag you are suffering, the lag is caused by the gasses going to the turbo and the dpf is after this.
To "fix" the lag you will be best replacing the turbo with a faster spooling item and having the car remapped but vw are reknown for laggy dervs so....

Just seems to lose power from 3rd to 4th, or was it 3nd to 3rd? Forget, maybe I just need to get used to driving diesels, prob best to keep the dpf and just remap then. No point in getting a new exhaust system if I'm not going to drop the dpf. Just wanted to get over 200 bhp.

Sounds good, will get a remapped and Sort turbo. I do like this motor.

Had it remapped from 170 to 210 bhp, a bottle of redex dpf cleaner with a few fill ups of V-Power, much better.
