As title - car runs fine, gets up to 90 (middle of temp dial) and sits there for a bit. Then rises right into red. If heaters on full and fans on full, cools it sufficiently to be running warm but not crazy hot.

Engine fans working. Waterpump just changed. Temp sensor in radiator pipe changed. Coolant levels right, and right colour. no obvious leaks anywhere, and coolant levels staying fine. No white smoke. So am thinking it's a thermostat problem that means it's not reaching the radiator properly - make sense?

Anything else I can consider?

Temp sensor in radiator pipe changed.

Do you mean the in-line thermostat?. Temp' sensor is screwed into the side of the head.

The reason I ask is, did the in-line 'stat get put in the right way round.

Sounds like thermostat to me too. Check your rad hoses to see if they both get hot.

Has this just started or has there been work done on the Car before it started happening?
