Service plan for UP
Discussion
Car is coming up to 2 years old and just had its second service. Was offered a service plan to cover the next major and minor service for £439.78 and informed that it was around a £110 saving rather than paying for the 2 individually
Looking at this it would seem saving is just over £50 (329+164) so still worth it

Any reason not to go for it?

Apart from the fact that they lied to you about the saving?Did it include the brake fluid change at 3yrs? It's in the VW service schedule and the dealer will tell you it's "mandatory" but oddly it won't have been included in the package price. Amazingly though, the dealer we bought our Tiguan off did manage to slip in the cost of an a/c "service". I was told "no bills to pay on the day". "So it includes the Haldex and DSG services?" "Errrr....No."
I absolutely hate VW dealers for their servicing scams. It's not like there's any advantage in going there - at one point we had 4 different marques on our family fleet and VW was the only one that didn't renew the breakdown cover with each service.
Just dug ours out, with an Inchcape dealer.
Got two sheets, stapled together. Both have minor and major service and two MOTs.
First page is £439 second page doesn't have a cost breakdown but included a/c service and is £488. So it's adding £49 for the a/c service.
No mention of brake fluid on either sheet.
To be honest, I am somewhat nervous about running this car (it's an EU6 diesel Tiguan with 4Motion and DSG) so that means mega complicated emissions stuff and AdBlue) beyond 3yrs without warranty coverage. I might have a look at what the VW extended warranty looks like or even just keep it in the network and pray for goodwill in the event of an issue.

I will add that mine above is for year 4 and year 5 , got the first 3 years thrown in but have to pay for the first mot
Ours is for 3rd and 4th years, but same minor / major service.Another bone of contention of mine with VW is from new they don't do a major service at 2yrs. Yet once it gets to 4yrs they insist it needs one every other year. But items such as spark plugs on petrols and fuel filters on diesels are only done if required, so you've no idea what you're actually getting. This happens with the pollen filter too - it's always "if required".

This really bugs me too and I just always get a minor service and then tell them what other things I want changed based on mileage / time.
