Going to look at them early next week at the local Skoda dealer. They have them there now, but I was told they can't do test drives until after 1st Jan as that's when they'll be registered. We'll be looking at the 1.5 Petrol in SE L spec.
I'm not convinced by the the whole SUV thing if I'm honest, but were changing the family car (which is mainly driven by Mrs GP) so we want to have a look at them before we commit to getting another estate. All the youtube reviews are positive and I think for family duties, they'll be great. But my wife and I both hate slow cars so it'll be interesting to try one, I think we'll know pretty much straight away if we can or can't get on with it!

I went for for the SE Tech 1.5 as the Skoda support is significant on a lease. I wanted the SEL but no support yet so a large cost delta.
It will cost us just over £5k over 2 years which is less than depreciation I reckon.
For our family use, nothing else will do apart from a 2wd SUV and despite the dubious image. They're brilliant.

I saw one at my local Skoda just before xmas. TBH I was pleasantly surprised. Typical VAG with all the interior components. Good space and kit on the SE which seem to be supported at the moment. Prices are due to go up in the new year on the lease side from what the dealers have said.
Me too although the broker said it would be mid-April.
I saw it at Chichester Skoda early this morning, pretty smart actually. It didn't feel much of a downgrade compared to the Tiguan in terms of fit/finish/materials. It felt on a par with the Ateca.
Boot massive but rear legroom not so much. I stupidly didn't check how the Varioflex was set up, it could have been set up to max out boot space.

Just got back from test driving the Karoq with Mrs GP. We drove a manual 1.5 Petrol in SE L spec and were actually the very first potential customers to drive it with just 16 miles on the clock. We drove it over a mix of slow, town roads and faster dual carriageway.
Coming from our Octavia VRS diesel estate, I was concerned I'd hate it, but it's not going to be my car so hence I don't get the final say. That said Mrs GP and I have the same likes/dislikes in cars so we both needed to drive it. Clearly it's also a completely different car to the Octavia too. All in all though, I thought for family duties it was great. It feels very car like to drive, and at the sort of speeds you'd drive at with the family on board, performance was suitably brisk. Granted it doesn't have the shove of the diesel, but it's plenty for everyday driving. The ride quality was firm enough and it certainly doesn't wallow about like I thought it might.
The brakes, gearshift and steering were all standard VAG stuff, so no surprises there. The interior was good, well made and felt nicely screwed together. The level of tech on the SE L was also good and we both thought the boot and variable rear seats were well thought out and plenty big enough.
So, if we can sort out a good value lease deal, we've decided to take the plunge and order one.
Nickfrog, for info I measured the boot with the rear seats fully back (ie for max legroom in the back) and from the lip to the back seats it was 860mm.
ETA: we've now committed to lease it after a bit of haggling with the dealer. It was cheaper than the usual lease websites even after we'd added a load of extras on and we don't have to pay an admin fee so I'm pretty chuffed. Delivery will be in March for the new 18 plate.

These seem like the best small SUV to me, and the 1.5tsi is a very good engine. Just a shame that neither Skoda or Seat seem willing or allowed to put a quicker petrol engine in. I know the Ateca has a 2.0tsi 190bhp version, but clearly they've been restricted on power there, why not 230bhp from golf GTi, or even better the 300bhp version. I would have thought there would be reasonable demand for them if priced right, but maybe Audi say no.

Isn’t a 300hp alteca cupra coming soon? Imagine they will do a VRS Skoda at some point. Nickbrapp said:

Yes there is talk of it, but will it actually happen? Would be quicker than the base Macan, not that they would attract the same customers. I'd prefer it on the Karoq, as I think it looks better than the Ateca. I think Skoda would more likely go for the 240bhp diesel from the Tiguan.AndrewGP said:

That's exactly my experience of our last 3 small SUVsAndrewGP said:

Cheers for that.I heard today our order has been brought forward to Feb so should take delivery early March too.
SEL spec is brilliant.

Posted this on the lease thread but it's pretty fast moving so thought I see if anyone on hear could advise:
Right, considering a Skoda Karoq for the wife and am new to the leasing game - trying to get my head around some figures. From what I can see the PCP deals (my preferred route) are inferior to the PCH:
Karoq 1.5 TSI DSG SE L from Simpsons:
£2,490 down
23 x £199 = £4,577
'Amortised' cost = £294 pm
Total = £7,067 which with RRP at £25,881 is 27%
PCP through Skoda (over 24 months):
£3,872 down
£1,500 dealer cont.
23 x £301 = £7,130
Balloon = £15,490
Total financed = £26,492
RV= ??? but would hope around £13k min after 2 years?
"Cost" over 2 years would be £13,492.
Surely PCP makes no sense in this example unless I am missing something? Are they both terrible deals?

Your total cost on PCP is £10,795 (Deposit of £3872 plus 23 x £301). Even so PCP makes absolutely no sense as with that Balloon there is no chance whatsoever of any equity- PCH deal is the much better optionRight, considering a Skoda Karoq for the wife and am new to the leasing game - trying to get my head around some figures.
