Only just got the car, so it may be nothing. When the turbo decellerates it makes a series of 'small sneezes' I guess this is the gas being released after the pressure of acceleration. Just never heard it before.

I've had the windows closed since I bought the car and only just heard the noise. Opened the windows at the weekend for a burn and it is quite a clear sound. I swear it wasn't there when I bought it, but it may well have been.

TADTS? or do I need to get it checked out?

not totally sure from your description, but it could be your dump valve..

It sounds like your Diverter Valve is broken. The factory-fitted one is a cheap plastic diaphragm type, and the diaphragm has a tendency to split.

The OEM replacement is fairly cheap, but no more reliable. Your best bet is to get an aftermarket piston-type replacement - both Forge and Bailey do a suitable one. Be sure to get a diverter valve, though - the 1.8T engine doesn't take kindly to the atmospheric blow-off valve.

Am I okay to keep driving it for a couple of weeks? I literally haven't got time to take a leak, let alone get to a garage.

Is it relatively failsafe?

Yes, I drove my car around for a month or so with a faulty DV. I now have a Bailey DV30 fitted.

It shouldn't do any damage - but you might get lack of boost and/or surging as the DV leaks air back into the airbox.

Cheers mate, I'll get her booked in. Not noticed any surging or anything, but I'll keep my senses peeled.
