Recommended tyres for Golf 1.8T GTi.......
Discussion
Other tyres I used on my Clio Sport (Front drive, same as your golf) were:
Goodyear Eagle F1's - Good price, grippy, wore out a set in about 4000 miles!!!!
Yokohama AVS Sports - Pretty good tyre to be honest, but not really that cheap and was much better in the dry than the wet (from memory).
Michelin Pilot Sports - The best of the lot, but cost a lot more for just that reason. Grip was fantastic, and they lasted as well as anything.
Toyo T1-s - I have always found Toyo's to be pretty good. Have used the T1-s on a few cars now and are grippy wet or dry, last a good while, and are pretty cheap. I think they have stopped production on the T1-s now, replacing it with the T1-r (which I have just ordered from here at a very good price: www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html ). Obviously, until they are fitted I cannot comment on them, but they are supposed to be grippier and longer lasting.... which would be nice!!
