Hello
I have a mkII Golf GTI 16v that will be used only on the track. I have a set of 195/50/15's on it at the mo'.

Wanted to know what the best suspension type would be to get the best for handling. Don't need the comfort for this job.

Ta everyone

Ask in the chassis section of the clubgti forums, plenty of people on coil-overs will be able to offer advice.

Hi, Ive got a track Mk2 valver also. I'm on CGTi forum too- same login, indeed good idea to post this question there too.

OK- depends on your budget & if you want to do any road use at all.

An excellent compramise for road/track is Eibach springs & Koni adjustable shocks.

Coilovers ther are loads of options, if its track only use you may consider LEDA, pricey tho.

Some people get custom made springs especially for track, some are almost undrivable on road they are so firm tho.

You MUST uprate your antiroll bars tho, I use Eibachs (F22mm R25mm) which are popular but there are other types like Nuespeed which can be had in F25mm & R28mm & others.

Also you must use uprated polyurathane bushes all round- ie rear beam, wishbones etc etc & throw the old rubber ones away, this makes a really massive difference to the tightness of the chassis, plus new top mounts, bump stops etc etc & run a decent geo set up- like 2 deg neg camber- & zero toe.

I use a full Eibach springs/shock kit, its fantastic on road, good quality & pretty firm, but when pushed hard on track & esp on slicks its too soft & when ive got some spare dosh I'll bung ajustable konis on- would have done it this winter but the new super dooper flowed head ate my shocks fund- still lots more power now so its not all bad

Mine in action-
