Hi All,

My friend is trying to convince me to buy his alloy wheels off him.

The question is will they fit??

My Golf is a Mk3 Golf 1.8CL with 4 stud hubs, the wheels are 100+ jobbies which have 8 holes.

The question is are they the right offset? What size tyres will I need? (Currently on 13" wheels) and these are 15". Also will they fit ok with lowered suspension?

I'm in two minds other them as my car is supposed to be a cheap run around for a couple of years but he only wants a £100 for the set. (Although they will need 2 new tyres)

Thanks,

Phill.

The offset should be stamped on the back of the wheel. IIRC Golf offset should be ET35-38

Sorry they're not Alfa wheels, but they are currently on an Alfa.

They're these:

£85 got me these off a local - I fitted new boots at £125 for the set.

Best thing is that they fit perfectly as they are VW originals...

Edited to add: My point is, have a dig about, maybe on EBay, but more likely in a local VW club and you'll find somebody with a set of VW alloys of some type that'll look lovely.

Ok checked with my mate.

The offset is et38 and the tyres are 195/50/15.

So by my reckoning they will fit?

As long as the centre bore is not smaller than 57.1mm and you are sure that the PCD is ok, 4x100 if you are 4 stud.

A service is next on the cards! + I need to change the sump gasket.

If I can get hold of some Mk4 style lights cheaply I might go for them if not thats it.

Going to keep it for another year (finish uni in June 06) then buy a Octavia vRS (hopefully) or go off to Oz for 12 months.
