Rattle-y Vr6 heat deflector???

Hi all

The heat shield above my exhaust is rattling so I took it to Kwik Fit thinking it would be a quick, cheap job. They told me that I need some heat shield clips that I had to get direct from VW. I phoned VW and they don't know what I am talking about.

Can anyone let me know what I need to save me from a VW labour charge to have a quick look?

Kwik Fit bloke said it was a plastic plug type thing...

Common problem, usually fixed by using a couple of massive hose clips. These go round the shield portion and the exhaust itself.

For what it's worth, my experience of Kwik Fit is that they are robbing barstewards. I would go anywhere but there. Hope you get it sorted.

I had to go to the dealers yesterday to pick up a new hose (£55 ) to fix a coolant leak and spoke to someone who knew their stuff. She found the heat shield pins on the computer and I've ordered some. Can't wait to stop the rattle - hopefully they'll be here by the weekend.

EmmaP: The KwikFit I use (Stockport) are pretty good.. they fixed a puncture for me for free when another well known chain told me I needed a £95 new tyre.
