I have just managed to repair the centre brake light on my 2009 Audi A6 Avant.

Its not a wiring fault in the right rear light cluster its the LED bar itself.

To remove, pull on the plastic trim this will leave enough room to get to the back of the light. There are four clips that just pop out.

There are two parts to the light, the LED bar and the locking bar. The locking bar needs to be slide to the Right (I think it was) Then the clips need to removed. This is the tricky bit there are 4!! Two are hidden to the right and left about 1" behind the metal work.

Once these are out you can tease the LED bar out by prying the underside up from inside the boot. I would start with the RHS (as you are working) came out easier. It does catch on the rear window and spoiler but does come out.

I had to cut off the end of the plastic trim to get to the back of the connector to resolver the pins. Once this was done resemble the whole light bar with black fixing trim and clips, remember to plug in the power lead first then lower it back into position.

From the inside of the boot, slide the black locking bar back over and test.

Took me about 4 hours as no-one had described it on the S-Line and I didn't want to brake the spoiler or light.

SuperBump......

My A6 AllRoad has just started throwing up the warning about the central brake light failiure- seems this is the fix to start with. Typically, MOT is due in 3 weeks.
I assume a failure in the high level is a MOT fail ?
