Hi

Over the past week I've been getting an intermittent red brake warning light and 'peeping' when starting up (about 1 in every 3 times) - so I booked it in to an Audi main dealer, who couldn't find fault and said he'd 'cleaned the sensor' - disks/pads looked fine.

Needless to say, it worked fine as I left the garage this morning, but twice since has flashed and peeped as I turned on ignition. (I have to say it's more common in the wet).

Is this a drive (80 mile round trip) back to the Audi dealer and shout thing?.. or is it something I can ignore and not die? (Brake fuid is up to the mark and car has only done 15k miles). Brakes feel fine.

Any ideas?

Have a look in the owners handbook and see what the light in question signifies...

My A8 keeps telling me I have a back light out........Whicch I don't. It started after a very dusty Le Mans 2 years ago. I guess it's a bad contact somewhere but I can't find it!

My S6 told me the same thing - I spent ages trying to check the brake fluid in the dark, eventually ascertained it was up to the mark, then checked the pads and the rears were worn (not worn out, but they're being replaced next month so I'm happy for now). Could it be that the pads are a bit low?

Had the same thing on my RS6 a month ago. The dealer thought it was either the battery losing some voltage or bad contacts somewhere along the line from the sensor. Anyway they put the battery on charge overnight and cleaned up/replaced the contacts and the problem has not recurred.
