Golf VR6 ECU Re-map.
Discussion
Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a custom ECU remap done in the Surrey / Hampshire area?
I would like to change the standard chip - but an off the shelf one makes no sense at all as all cars / engines are different - I'm convinced the only way to go is somewhere with some techincal wizardry and a rolling road.
Any ideas?

Other than that, there's a firm down in Southampton whose name escapes me.

Cheers guys.
I'm interested in perhaps talking to AMD, but I do have my doubts. I've taken advice from some people who REALLY know their VW's and most have said that the VR6 engine is not that tune-able. The common advice seems to be exhaust and cat bypass for starters - which has been shown to free up between 5 and 15bbhp and then obviously a well fitted induction kit. (A badly fitted one just bolted onto the manifold gave a mate of mine a 8bhp loss when tested on a rolling road!).
So I'm dubious about a 15bhp gain from a chip, but I guess if it's all done in front of you on a rolling road then you can't argue.
Now where's my wallet....

On its own the gains from chipping are not going to be mega & yes the cheapest gain on a VR is the airfilter.
Chipped, exhaust, filter & a Golf VR normally has a bit more poke than a standard Corrado anyway. High 190s to 200bhp area is commonplace.
As you are Hampshire, give West at Thruxton a shout, or going further North- Stealth.

For the 2.8L VR6 you need to fit a Corrado (or bigger) throttle body, preferably gas-flowed, in addition to an induction kit and a rolling-road remap. This will show really appreciable gains as the 2.8L VR6 really gasps for air in standard trim.
A VSR is a superb addition too, if you can stomach the cost, because it gives so much more low-down torque.
