A4 headlight adjustment

Can anyone tell me how to raise the level of the headlights on my 2002 A4? There is a knob on the dashboard but even at the highest setting the light only seems to reach about 30ft ahead.

I'd rather use someone's experience before diving in and making a mess of the setting.

you cant adjust it any more because a friend of mine was having the same problem
